At the beginning of the pandemic one of our clients hired us to develop an e-learning platform for their workshops. Their main business were mindfulness and new work courses which they were used to doing in person. But then they quickly pivoted to doing them online. The platform myndway academy creates a shared space for workshop coaches and participants to share files, organise the workshops in a course and to communicate with each other. It lets our client set up and organise courses with an outlook to grow the platform to invite other coaches and teachers to use the platform just the same.
Creating an e-learning platform
As the designer I worked with 2 developers as well as 2 stakeholders from the client. We worked out the concept together with the client and then designed and implemented the platform over the course of about half a year. I designed the platform from Log In to individual workshop channels for users as well as system admins.
Once the constraints were established we created a roadmap for the project. Then we derived a concept for the platform, checking with developers for doability and with stakeholders to see if it suits their needs. From there I created user flows and wireframes before starting on the designs. At the same time the developers were setting up the technical necessities for the platform. My finished screen designs were then implemented and eventually the platform was tested, presented and launched.
Expanding the platform
After launching the initial version academy we worked on some more features for course participants to interact with the core topics and with each other a bit more. We also conceived of an expansion of the platform where course setup doesn't need to be done by admins. For these ideas I created screen many designs to flesh out user flows and cross-platform consistency. However, not much of this was implemented during my time with the project.
